Dear Players, Parents and Carers,
As highlighted in my last email, towards the end of June, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday 5th August at 8pm, in the Sports Hall at Newman Marcellin Campus. There will be a separate meeting with all coaches and managers prior (a separate notice will be sent for this). Those attending the AGM alone, should come from 7.45pm.
I wish to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of you, the Raiders Community for your patience and understanding over the last few months since everything was shut down and then slowly, painfully, reopened again. It is great to see our kids playing basketball again. This year we have 575 players registered into 76 teams.
At the AGM, we will discuss the following:
Significant events, including COVID, U8 yr 2 program challenges, Raiders Integrated Basketball Tournament.
Finances, including discussions around refunds, junior coach payments and likely costs for 2020.
Committee positions, including calls for nominations in available positions.
Plans for 2021.
The committee this year has worked incredibly well together over a very challenging time with 90% intending to return in 2021. We invite you to consider joining as it is a great opportunity to meet people and be involved with shaping our club. My tenure as President was only every going to be for one year, unfortunately I am not in a position to be able to extend this, hence I will be stepping down at the end of the season. The major stressors over the last few years have been around registrations, this situation has now been improved for 2021 with 4 existing committee members volunteering to share the role rather than 1 person doing the job. I am confident we have the roles within the committee well balanced so there will not be a big onus on any one individual.
The positions that will be available in 2021 and need to be filled include:
President
Training court coordinator
Club manager liaison
Under 8, year 1 program coordinator.
Event manager
General members (x4).
