End of Season Dates and Key Events

End of season dates and key events

Under 8's: The last Tuesday night session will be 27th August with no Hawks wind-up - pennants will be handed out by Hawks at the end of that session. Under 10-12's: Your last regular season game will be the weekend of 30-31 August. There are no end-of-season pennant presentations by Hawks anymore, nor a round robin for the last round of the season. Under 14-20's: Your last regular season game will be the weekend of 30-31 August. If you finish in the top four then you will have semi-finals on the weekend of 6-7th September (1v 4, 2 v 3), and if you win this game then the grand final will be on the weekend of 13-14th September.

Please keep the following dates free for the major Raiders awards nights:

Junior End-of-Year Presentations

Friday 6th September from 5:30pm @ Newman Sports Club. This includes year 1-year 6 up to and including U12 teams.

Youth End-of-Year Presentations

Wednesday 18th September from 5:30pm @ Newman Sports Club. This is the Wednesday night after the grand finals for U14’s and above and will allow us to recognise our winning teams.

Additional details will follow in the next few weeks, including calls for volunteers for this event (one from each team). The event will include a sausage sizzle and drink for all of the players.

Annual members awards – coach and manager of the year as voted by you!

Due to its great success last year, we are continuing the four awards we introduced last year, namely:

  • Player's Coach of the Year (U12 and Below)

  • Parent's Manager of the Year (U12 and Below)

  • Player's Coach of the Year (U14 and Above)

  • Player's/Parent's Manager of the Year (U14 and Above)

We want you to be involved in recognising those volunteers who spend a significant amount of their own time supporting you and your team in Raiders basketball. A submission simply requires you to send an email to me by no later than Monday, 26th August by 10pm that includes the following information:

  • Who you are nominating and for what award.

  • Your team number.

  • Why you are nominating them (1-2 paragraphs at most).

  • Who is nominating them (could be single person, part or whole team, player or parent) – if possible try to coordinate as whole of team.

We look forward to seeing the submissions pouring in - a decision on the final winners will be assessed by a panel of our committee members, with winners announced at the end of year functions.

Good luck to everyone for the end of the season - go Raiders!!
